  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 cup dark sugar
  • 1 cup cooking molasses
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 lb. melted butter
  • 3 tsps. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. all spice
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups grated coconut
  • 2 cups raisins
  • 1/2 cup nuts (slivered almonds or walnut pieces)

Direction

  1. Blend dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Beat eggs add milk and melted butter.
  3. Mix with sugar and molasses.
  4. Add raisins and nuts to wet mixture and let sit for a few minutes before adding to the dry ingredients.
  5. Mix well and pour into a greased baking container of about 9×13.
  6. Bake at 400 degrees F for 20 minutes or until a tester comes up dry.
  7. Let sit for 10 minutes before removing from baking tin and place on a cooling rack. Cut into 2- 3-inch squares.
